Anti-fashion Kid

Anti-fashion refers to a style based around going against the current trends. However, they are not usually that indavidual, choosing clothes not because they like them, but because it's not popular.
Anti-fashion Fashion (is that an oxymoron?) tends to consist of what most people would deem to be outdated or just plain unfashionable, yet without being weird.
Typical items used are cardigans/Jackets in bright colors, which are often either home-made or customized; armwarmers and wristbands; brightly colored boots/shoes, sometimes even wellies; mismatched/brightly colored socks or unusually colored tights; suspenders; unusual hats; simple yet unusual shirts; brightly colored skirts/shorts over leggings. They often wear unusual accesories as well, to the extent of using shoelaces as hair ribbons.
Anti-fashion outfits don't have to be colorful, and can be pulled off just as well in muted colors like purple and dark turquoise. As long as people look and think 'what were they thinking?' it's all good.
All clothing is customized, or at least off-brand, and the more gifted members of the anti-fashion clique may well make their own clothes entirely. The Anti-fashion Kids that are not so gifted will without a doubt be experts at charity store shopping.
Mix and (mis)matching different fashions, such as a tutu, hot pink and green polkadotted t-shirt, stripy leggings, black platform boots, punk-ish armbands, and a pair of oversized goggles as a headband, is also very often a staple of anti-fashion.
Anti-fashion Kids may go against the popular kids in music terms as well, but normally aren't into punk or anything like that. Generally they listen to Indie, Experimental, or pop that no one listens to any more; such as queen, Abba, or busted. They often also listen to pop music from other countrys, but not japan, usually, or just anything different.
Although one of the reasons they dislike popular culture is because they beleive it to be too elitist and that you have to be exactly like fashion magazines say, Anti-fashion Kids can be, and often are, just as elitist if not more so, and will abandon people for being too normal or conformist.
There isn't a 'history' of Anti-Fashion, although some argue that it realy began in the 90s; wherever there are trends, there are those who would rather die than follow them, and thus there is anti-fashion.
