Fantasy Fan

Simply put, a fantasy Fan is someone who is interested in Fantasy literature and film, often with a preferance for the high fantasy subgenre.
Comparisons with Science fiction fandom are perhaps inevitable, and indeed there are many similarities, such as Fantasy societies (like the national fantasy fan federation) and Fantasy conventions.
However, there are diferences in that where as Science fiction fans often embrace futurism, Fantasy fans are dreamers who fantasize about a bygone era. Fantasy Fans may also cosplay, and are the most likely fandom to hold LARPs.
As with members of most comunities, particularly fandoms, there are several mailing lists and internet forums specifically for Fantasy Fans.
There is little to no imformation about the history of Fantasy Fandom, so one can infer that it simply started with websites about fantasy and developed into it's own subculture.
Aside from the earlier mention of cosplay, most fantasy fans dress normally, save for fantasy t-shirts and the ocaisional dragon keyring or some such accesory.
Fantasy Fans often listen to music from fantasy films, notably the Labyrinth and it's spiritual prequal; The dark crystal, and spiritual succesor; mirror mask.
