Madam
Madam is the feminine variant of Aristocrat, and thus is inspired by what victorian women wore. Like aristocrat, it is most popular in japan, but, also like aristocrat, there are small followings worldwide.
Musical tastes are almost always the same as those of it's male counterpart; ie, classical, and victorian inspired bands like Rasputina, and Versailles.
Although often thought of as the style of 'grown up lolitas', Madam is not part of lolita, and actually has more in common wth victoran goth than loli.
The dfferences include that, in madam, there are generally no cutesy motifs (prints, lace, over-abundance of frills, bows, etc). Skirts are often worn long, although sometimes they can be shorter, especially in the hotter months. High corseted waists on skirts is common, so are actual corsets (all types). Fitted jackets with tail coats are popular, so are frilly shirts (and cravats), top hats, veils, etc.
A Madam's hair is usually done in a mature style. Buns and other lifted styles are common, however it is okay for them to wear their hair down, short or curly (one should try to avoid lolita-like barrel curls though). They should not do anythng to extreme, this isn't visual kei after all!
Make up should be mature and can be darker and heavier than aristocrat, lolita, or neo-victorian, but nothing to extreme, again, this isn't VK. Usually, Madam makeup involves heavy mascara, dark eye shadow, and red lipstick.
Madam can be worn by both females and males, like lolita, crossdressers are common.
